Fabulous Layout

Hi, I have managed to squeeze in one more challenge for this month. Today's layout is for Blue Fern Studio's  September Sketch challenge.  I love Blue Fern Studio's lovely soft coloured papers and delicate chipboard pieces so I decided to made a pretty and delicate page for their sketch layout.

Instead of using modeling paste through my stencils as usual I instead mixed Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals with Finnabairs Art Ingredients 3D Gloss Gel. It gives a lovely shiny finish. For the chipboard pieces I first covered them with gesso, then coloured them with Gelatos, and finally gave them a spray with Glimmer Mist Dazzling Diamonds to give them a pretty shine. I stamped the background using a pink ink to keep the page all nice and soft colours, then I decided I wanted circles so I stamped them in black. The circles aren't stamps they are just various sized jar lids.

New Memories Layout

Hi there, unfortunately another weekend nearly over, I love weekends because it's my scrapbooking time. Today I created this page inspired by the Sketchabilities Sketch #123 and also the theme from this months 7 Dots Studio Inspiration Circle of New Beginnings.
A new beginning for us was when we moved from New Zealand to Australia in 2011. It was a scary time for us as we had lived in Christchurch NZ and had just been through all the earthquakes so we decided we might get better job opportunities in Australia so we packed up and moved to start our new life. This photo was taken in the first week we were here, we went to the zoo and our daughter feed a kangaroo to the first time.

I used some gorgeous 7 Dots Studios Nature Walk papers, plus I cut pieces out of some Prima and Marion Smith Design Papers to add some pink accents to complement the brown of the Nature Walk papers. I put some modeling paste thru stencils on the background, added colour with sprays and then randomly stamped abit. For the chipboard butterflies I mixed a Lindy's Stamp Gang Color Shot with Finnabair Art Basics 3D Gloss Gel, then I sprinkled the with the Finnabair Art Ingredients Light Pink Art Sugar. The oval chipboard frame I coloured with a Faber Castel Gelato then heat embossed with Lindy's Stamp Gang Embossing Powder

Here's my close ups

Moments of Peace Layout and Butterfly Canvas

Hi, I'm just finishing up adding the crafting I did over the weekend to my blog. My first piece is a layout inspired by The Dusty Attic September Challenge Sketch (Details can be found here), using Dusty Attic Chipboard. Then the theme for my page came from the Sassy Scrapper September Mood Challenge Board that was a beach/summer theme this month (details can be found here).
I love this pic of my daughter on the beach walking down to the water with her shadow beside her, she looks so nice and peaceful. I really like how the colours turned out on this page even though my husband told me it wasn't his favourite, but I guess not everyone can love my work :)

I covered the chipboard word "peace" and two of the flourishes in gesso then in embossing powder to give a lovely shiny bronze finish.  The rest of the chipboard I covered in gesso then coloured with Lindy's Stamp Gang Color Shots and Sprays.
For the background I layered some Prima resist canvas, dollies and strips of paper, then I went to town with gesso, stencils, modeling paste, sprays, color shots, and stamps. To top the page off I used  Prima flowers, some shells and lots of pearls and rhinestones.

Butterfly Canvas

This is my very first time making a canvas, while I was sick a couple of weeks ago I watched lots of YouTube videos of some very talented scrapbookers making some beautiful works of art on canvas. So I thought I would give it a go myself, I'm pleased with how my first attempt turned out. You can't tell from the photos but because I used Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Sprays and Tattered Angles Glimmer Mists the canvas turned out really shimmery and sparkly, it's so pretty.
The Chipboard is all from The Dusty Attic, their Monarch Butterfly Chipboard pieces are so beautiful that I made them the main feature of my canvas.

I started by giving the canvas texture with stencils and modeling paste, tissue paper, lace, and tulle. Then I stuck down most of the chipboard and layered on the flowers before I coated the whole thing in a couple of coats of gesso. Next I sprayed and painted the colours on until I got to the colours I liked. I finished off by sticking down the main flower and butterfly plus a few pearls and rhinestones.

My Favourite Photo Layout + Card

Hi, I've created this layout to enter this months Once Upon A....Sketch Challenge (Link Found Here) using their sketch as my layout design and this month Lindy's Stamp Gang Color Challenge         (Link Found Here) using their colour palate for my colour choices.
I loved how the sketch had two photos and I had these two photos of my daughter posing silly after a dance concert from a couple of years ago. I'd printed the photos in sepia as the outfit she was wearing was fluorescence pink and yellow and the wall behind her was bright green :)
I chose some gorgeous Marion Smith Design Paper as they when so nicely with the colour palate, and topped the page off with some Scrap FX chipboard and a few flowers.

I used the Prima Brick Wall stencil and modeling paste on the background, then coloured it with Lindy's Stamp Gang Color Shots and Sprays. I coloured the heart chipboard with embossing powder, and the birds and flower stem chipboard with the Color Shots mixed with Gel Medium.

I sprinkled some glitter and pearls around the page for some sparkle, and added some flowers coloured with the sprays and color shots.

I also made with card at the same time. I went with pretty pink and blue colours, lots of flowers and some lovely chipboard to top it off. I also had some little hands help me add the glitter to this card so a lot more got sprinkled on than I had intended :) Although the photos don't show how sparkly it really is.

A Little Magic

Hi, After a week and a half of being really sick with a bad virus then a terrible cold I've finally managed to get back to my craft table again. I made this page with inspiration from this months Scrap Around the World's mood board about fairy tales.
I loved the picture of the fairy at the top of the mood board so I started with that for inspiration, then I had some papers from the Kasiercraft Enchated Garden Collection sitting around that were perfect for the fairy tale theme and I topped the page of with lots of Dusty Attic Chipboard.

The chipboard was coloured using the sprays (colours listed below) I painted them on using a small paint brush.  I cut the fairy's, paper butterflies and saying out of the Kaisercraft Enchanted Garden paper. Then I topped this page of with lots of glitter, sparkle and flowers.

Here's my close ups.

I didn't like the first set of photos I posted so I re-took the photos (20/09/14) and I realised the camera leans had a smudge on it so that's probably why the were fuzzy, whoops. Enjoy my clearer pics.

Flowers

Hi, I've created this page to enter this months 7 Dots Studios challenge. Their theme this month is the five senses, so I made my daughter pose with these flowers to capture the senses of smell.

I chose this beautiful paper from 7 Dots Nature Walk Collection and started be smearing some gesso on the paper to add my colour to.

I used stencils with modeling paste and stamps on the background, I also stitched the edges of some of the paper to give extra interest.
