March Mood Board for Maja Design

Hi there, Maja Design has a new Mood Board challenge out today. It's full of gorgeous colours and inspiration.

For this Mood Board I decided to alter and old Samsung phone box.
I used both sides of the Vintage Frost Basics paper 21st of December to cover the outside of the box.
I placed two pieces of paper on the top of the box, then I curled two corners of the top piece into the middle. I added distress ink to all the edges and placed on some metal corners. I put a few flowers in the middle with a couple of metal trinkets, ribbons and some glass beads.

This is how we use the mood boards:

We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truly believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. However – we highly recommend you to follow the theme.. Feel free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the colour scheme.
We will pick a winner and present it on the blog Maja Design March 28th.
Have in mind that these challenges are a really great way for us to discover new talents and maybe some future Creative Team members…

How to participate?
♥ Create anything you’ll like – a layout, a card, something altered or maybe a canvas. Use Maja papers primarily! Take a nice picture of it and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu. We also need to know your full name, address and a phone number. Please specify what collection you would like to win, if you are the lucky one. We will also want to know if you would like it in the size 12*12 or 6*6. Please send us the pictures in the size of 800 pixels on the width. We would be so grateful if you also could change the file name of the photo to your first and last name including your country.
♥ Feel free to send us more than one picture, from different angles or some close-ups – or why not more than one project?
♥ Publish the project/s on your blog (or/and any social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) with a link to our site. Please also add the image of the mood board.
♥ Feel free to combine your entry with other challenges.
♥ The winner will be revealed the last Monday each month, at the Maja blog. The winner will be sent one collection by their choice, and also a digital Winner’s Badge to use and brag with.
We need your creation March 24th at the latest.
Thank you & Good luck!

Hi everyone, a new month has started which mean new challenges.
Blue Fern Studio's has a new sketch challenge ready to inspire you. Plus a look at the new paper collection Courtship Lane. This month all the DT sketch examples are made with this collection which will be in stores soon. Head to the Blue Fern blog to see all the amazing DT creations.
My post will be later this month featuring all the gorgeous new papers.

Our sketch designer, Michele Singh, has a beautiful sketch for you this month.  There are so many ways to interpret this sketch, and we can't wait to see how you apply your style to it.

We ask that you follow these guidelines:

1.) Feel free to interpret the sketch as you please by means of taking it as-is or
flipping/turning/mirroring it to suit your needs, but please make sure your layout resembles the sketch.

2). Please note that you can do whatever type of project you please - a layout, card,
canvas, altered item- whatever suits your mood and style!
We would love to see the different ways our sketch can be used.

3.) You must use at least one piece of Blue Fern Studios chipboard OR use Blue Fern Studios paper on your project. Please note that you do not need to use the pieces featured in the sketch
- use whatever suits your fancy! You can find the store nearest you HERE.
 {Do not use any other brand of chipboard on your project, please!}

4.) Upload your project using the Inlinkz tool on the Blue Fern Blog by midnight EST on March 31, 2016.

Jewellery Box for Maja Design

Hi everyone. Today I have an off the page project for you which I made for Maja Design
Maja March Jewellery box (1)
I brought a Tim Holtz Mini Configuration Book a while ago to make it into a Jewellery Box for my Daughter. She loves pink and the Vintage Summer Basics collection has the most gorgeous pink papers which I decided were prefect for this box.
Maja March Jewellery box (2)
I used the Vintage Summer Basic Papers 1908, 1910, 1922 and 1925. I started by putting a layer of gesso over the whole thing and then I cut the paper to fit the cover, sides and inside of the book.

I layered lots of pretty embellishments on the cover, some of these are my Daughters favourites from my stash - e.g. the little birds nest and mini birds.
Once the papers were glued on I went over all the edges with distress ink in Vintage Photo
Maja March Jewellery box (5)
Then I added some lace and pearls to the spine, and to finish off I added pearls to the cover.

On the Inside I covered the larger surfaces with paper, then I took the foam out of some old jewellery boxes to fit inside the smallest squares
