Swirlydoos Round Robin Challenge - Vintage with a Fall Twist

It has been a busy weekend and I'm finishing by posting this early. This in my Round Robin challenge layout for the Swirlydoos Kit Club. This month the round robins theme was vintage with a fall twist. I have used this vintage photo of my Mum when she was a young girl, I've used the fall/autumn colour scheme. To check out the other entries see the Swirlydoos Forum or the Swirlydoos Facebook Gallery.

I also drew so inspiration from the Prima Product Pick this month. I used the Prima Archivist Collection papers, lots of Prima flowers and vine, Foil wood embellishments, metal zipper, as well as me favourite Finnabair Art basis products and glass glitter.

Maja Designs Enjoying Outdoors Collection for Bella Paperie

Hi, today I have some projects to share that I made with the newest Maja Designs Collection Enjoying Outdoors for Bella Paperie. This collection is beautiful with lots of neutral earth tones mixed in with several shades of purple. I don't scrap purple very often so I was nice to do something different.

Here is my first layout: Beauty

I chose to use the purple colours on this layout. I added lots of paper layers putting pieces of lace and a doily in between them.  I used four different shades of purple mists on my background as there was four different shades of purple in the paper, plus I added a few brown and white touches to break up all the purple.

Here are my close ups - this layout ended up being very 3D :)

Maja Designs Enjoying Outdoors Papers Used:
Having Tea in the Sun
I'm Happy
Time for Reflection
Scent of Lavender

I also made a card with the left over materials

My second layout: Enjoying Outdoors

For this layout I used the brown an green papers to make something completely different with the same collection. On the background I used the Prima Circle stencil with the Finnabair Platinum Crackle paste. Then I mixed some Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals with texture paste and put it through a Tim Holtz Brickwork stencil

 Here are my close ups

And a card I made with the left over materials

I have used the Maja October Mood board as inspiration for these layouts

Also yesterday I taught my very first class at Bella Paper using the Maja collection Summer Crush. Here is the layout I taught. The class was lots of fun a great start to teaching :)

Hi everyone, I'm super excited to have my first DT post on the Swirlydoos Scrapbook Kit Club team.

Today I have a tutorial for you on how to make an easy watercolour mixed media background using a variety of different products.  To make a background like this you can use lots of different products,  like mists, mica powders, Gelatos and even ink pads.

I hope you find this video helpful

This is my first narrated video - any suggestions on how I could improve are always welcome

Scrap FX October New Releases

Hi everyone, I'm on the Scrap FX blog today showing you what I created with this months gorgeous new releases.

First up is a printers tray I altered.
I loved this months chipboard pieces so much I just wanted to use them all, but I couldn't manage to squeeze this many onto a layout so I went with an off the page project instead.

To alter the chipboard I primed them all with gesso first and then coloured them with Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals. The butterfly got some extra sparkle as I sprinkled on some fine glitter on it while it was still wet.

I used the Flourish Stamp on some of the edges of the tray with a very light pink embossing powder. This gave a lovely delicate detail.

I cut paper to fit in the squares, added a few touches of lace, topped with loads of flowers and all done

For my second project I had a challenge to Scraplift one of my first layouts, I chose the very first LO I ever made. The original was made after my daughter was born in December 2006 so nearly 9 years ago, its funny looking back and seeing how far my scrapping ability has come
Here is the updated version

I kept a similar layout design and colour combo to the original LO

I coloured most of the chipboard with embossing powder. To get the two separate colours on some of the pieces I use the Ranger Emboss It Dabber which is a liquid and put it on the chipboard with a fine paintbrush to the areas a want to emboss.

Here is my embarrassing first ever LO - before I discovered my love of chipboard, mixed media and excessive flowers :)
This challenge to redo a first layout is on the Swirlydoos  Kit Club Forum (Here). Its such a fun idea to redo old layouts.

This layout was also inspired by the current 7 Dots Studio Challenge - Frame it as I used the chipboard frame in my layout. The papers, tags and stickers are from the 7 Dots Soulmates collection
